Brotherly Love

Peyton and Cannon were fighting (I know - hard to believe) so I sent them each to their own naughty spot. Somehow Cannon snuck out of his naughty spot and ended up in Peyton's naughty spot. Pretty soon they were laughing. A little while later, when they were back to playing, they started fighting again. Before I could say anything to them, Peyton said, "Should we go back to the naughty spot and laugh?" They headed to the naughty spot and had a good laugh.

When I'm having a moment, maybe I should get to the naughty spot and laugh! I love you boys and think you teach me so much!

1st Day of 1st Grade

I can't believe that 1st grade is already here! Didn't summer just start? I had to face the fact the Peyton is headed to school all day. I feel selfish because I didn't want him to be gone all day - I like having him around way too much. He was ready though and we had a fun time getting ready for his big day.
This isn't Peyton's long lost twin, but a cut out to help us get ready for the next morning. Peyton picks out his clothes and then clothes pins them to this cardboard cut out. I just figured anything that gets kids excited about being organized is for us!

Cannon didn't want to be left out of the picture taking - thus the jump in front of the camera while taking Peyton's picture!

Cannon's cut out will get dressed when he starts school.

I thought I'd throw in a name review for breakfast
before he headed off to 1st grade.

Here's the big 1st grader looking as cute as ever!

I had to get this scrapbook moment of getting on the bus - could all the scrapbook mom's be the reason that the bus was late? What he doesn't know is that as soon as the bus started driving away, I cried!
Well, I was hoping things were going good, but I had a message from Peyton's teacher (who called while I was being consoled on the phone by my sister). She said that Peyton and a little girl collided on the playground and that he had a goose egg on his head. Mrs. Berry said I could come to the school to make sure he was okay, but I was pretty sure that wasn't a good idea - we'd probably both end up in tears. I waited until he came home to see the damage and it was worse than I was picturing.....

This picture doesn't do the size of the goose egg justice. You can kind of see the bottom of the bump just above his eyebrow. I should have taken the picture from the side. I guess that the little girl ran up from behind him and collided with him. He fell forward and somehow landed on his forehead, hands and knees. Mrs. Berry failed to mention the road rash! Peyton said I could only take a picture if I didn't put it on my blog. I told him I'd have to think about it and took the picture anyway.
I asked on a scale of 1 to 10 how he would rate his first day and he rated it a 10 - goose egg and all. He's growing too fast, but I'll try to enjoy each moment because there's no slowing them down!! I'm proud of you Peyton!

Demo Derby

We went to the demolition derby at the Logan Fair Grounds. I don't think that two little boys could have been any more fascinated with cars and loud noises than these two!

Peyton wanted a picture of the fire, but I didn't get the camera out quick enough so we just got the smoke.

This was a first for me - a pink van in a demo derby?!?

And if you can believe it, Cannon took a nap during heats 3 & 4!
(He has missed his nap during the day - but still!?)

Excited for School

I was driving Peyton to his 1st grade assesment and I asked him if he was excited for school. He says, "Not like boom-shock-a-locka excited, but just boom excited."

Has anyone ever been "just boom excited"? I'm not sure what that is? :)

Lagoon

Corey's work took us to Lagoon for the day. Peyton didn't get sick (Yea!) and Cannon loved Dracula's castle (should I be worried?). Corey finally had fun being able to ride the grown up rides with Jaxon.
Train ride

Skyride

The Rocket

Ferris Wheel

Lady Bug Bop

Airplanes

Carousel

Lollipop tradition - For the past few years, Corey has bought a lollipop for the boys on the way out of Lagoon. It takes a few days to eat the, but they love it!

Camping in Logan Canyon

We went camping again! This time we went up
Logan Canyon with six families and had a great time.

Thanks Uncle Darwin for the use of the 4-wheeler.

Again with the helmet.

Cannon humoring me with a picture.

Always trying to get a laugh.

Peyton, Cannon and Hayden.

The boys dragging firewood back to camp to ensure
there would be a long night of roasting marshmallows.

Cache Co. Fair

We spent a night at the Cacher County Fair walking around to look at all the exhibits. I thought this picture was too funny not to post!

Ironic!!

We borrowed a helmet for our upcoming camping trip and Cannon thought it was so fun to wear. He stuck the helmet on and was riding his bike. As he rounded a corner, the helmet was a little top-heavy and he tipped over. A little irony there that he was wearing a helmet and was injured in a bike wreck!! :)

New Primary Song?

I was putting Cannon to bed and told him I'd sing him a song.
Cannon: "Sing Jesus don't follow me."
Mom: "I don't know that one."
Cannon: "It goes: Jesus don't follow me, Jesus don't follow me. Don't walk in a straight line and take off your glasses."
I guess I missed the day they taught that one in Primary. :)
