1st Day of 1st Grade

I can't believe that 1st grade is already here! Didn't summer just start? I had to face the fact the Peyton is headed to school all day. I feel selfish because I didn't want him to be gone all day - I like having him around way too much. He was ready though and we had a fun time getting ready for his big day.
This isn't Peyton's long lost twin, but a cut out to help us get ready for the next morning. Peyton picks out his clothes and then clothes pins them to this cardboard cut out. I just figured anything that gets kids excited about being organized is for us!

Cannon didn't want to be left out of the picture taking - thus the jump in front of the camera while taking Peyton's picture!

Cannon's cut out will get dressed when he starts school.

I thought I'd throw in a name review for breakfast
before he headed off to 1st grade.

Here's the big 1st grader looking as cute as ever!

I had to get this scrapbook moment of getting on the bus - could all the scrapbook mom's be the reason that the bus was late? What he doesn't know is that as soon as the bus started driving away, I cried!
Well, I was hoping things were going good, but I had a message from Peyton's teacher (who called while I was being consoled on the phone by my sister). She said that Peyton and a little girl collided on the playground and that he had a goose egg on his head. Mrs. Berry said I could come to the school to make sure he was okay, but I was pretty sure that wasn't a good idea - we'd probably both end up in tears. I waited until he came home to see the damage and it was worse than I was picturing.....

This picture doesn't do the size of the goose egg justice. You can kind of see the bottom of the bump just above his eyebrow. I should have taken the picture from the side. I guess that the little girl ran up from behind him and collided with him. He fell forward and somehow landed on his forehead, hands and knees. Mrs. Berry failed to mention the road rash! Peyton said I could only take a picture if I didn't put it on my blog. I told him I'd have to think about it and took the picture anyway.
I asked on a scale of 1 to 10 how he would rate his first day and he rated it a 10 - goose egg and all. He's growing too fast, but I'll try to enjoy each moment because there's no slowing them down!! I'm proud of you Peyton!
