Seaweed

Well, I broke down and finally got my boys a pet.
Don't think I went too out on a limb though..... It's just a fish - Seaweed!!
Peyton kept calling to it and Cannon wanted to pet it. Sorry boys -
I know a dog is more exciting, but Seaweed will have to do for now.

End of Year

I can't believe that Peyton has already finished Kindergarten!! That went by way too fast. The last few weeks of school were fun. This was "Beach Day". Peyton was so happy because they could wear flip-flops - his favorite!

This is Peyton's Kindergarten celebration. His awesome teacher,
Mrs. LaMont, taught them a few songs. Here's part of my favorite:
"Start sing the news,
We're leaving today.
We're going to be a part of it,
First Grade, First Grade"
It was too cute and had a lot of mom, me included, shedding tears.

I am so proud of Peyton. He worked hard and had a great year!

Thanks for everything Mrs. LaMont!!

Happy Birthday Cannon!!

Cannon is three!! I can't believe it. It seem like it was just a few short months ago that he made his grand entrance into the world. We are so blessed to have this special spirit on our family. He's our comic relief everyday, all day!

Cannon got a "Diego" cake. He is still telling people that he is Diego. He'll say, "I'm Diego, like, Go Diego Go." For his birthday, we got him a Diego rescue pack and Peyton got him some rescue accessories. He has been rescuing all of his stuffed animals since.

We love you Cannon!!

Mom, I need you!!

The Saturday before Mother's Day. Poor Cannon had the flu all Friday night and all day Saturday. All he wanted was for me to hold him. If I put him down, he would say. "Mom, I need you." At one point I asked if I could make a bed for him while I made dinner. He agreed, but fell asleep again. Mother Day seemed to have greater meaning after cleaning up throw up for 24 hours before!!
**********

I hope that every Mom had a wonderful mother's day!! I know that I did.
I can't get enough love from my boys!!

The relationship between a mother and her sons is an awesome !

What mother wouldn't be proud of these smiles?!?!

Real funny P-Rock!

***********

This was Corey's idea of cleaning up after the Mother's Day dinner that I made after the Mother's Day breakfast that I made. The Mother's Day episode of abc's "The Middle" was too funny. Frankie, the mom, says at the end of the episode as she's enjoying her favorite piece of pie at her favorite restaurant alone the Monday after Mother's Day: "Mother's Day is for them (her family). The day after Mother's Day is for me. It's kinda like Father's Day for Mothers."
~ I think I need to create my own tradition of having a
"Father's Day for Mothers"!! ~

************

Does anyone else have in-laws that make you laugh? My father-in-law told Corey that he would take our dead water heater to the recycling center because he was already headed there to take his aluminum cans (that have been prewashed and perfectly smashed). This is what he brought back to Corey.
Yes - the dimes are taped to the post-it note.

*********

The PTA at Peyton's school wanted the kids to participate in a "treasure hunt". They had to bring an empty ink cartridge, 10 box tops, 2 Campbells soup labels and 2 receipts from Macey's. If you brought everything to school, you were entered into a drawing for one of two Webkinz. Peyton kept talking about the Webkinz and as a mother I kept telling him not to be disappointed when he didn't win. Well, he came home the next day with a.....

......New Webkinz! Lucky Kid! :)

*************

Grandma and Grandpa Cheney came for a visit. We love having them here and we are always sad when it's time for them to go home. We had a great time hanging out and taking a picnic to Wellsville Dam.

**********

Peyton had a field trip to Willow Park Zoo. They taught them about different types of animals. Peyton got to touch a bearded dragon lizard (at least I think that's what they said). This was the only picture I took because the rest of the field trip was outside looking at the animals under umbrellas in the rain.

***********

Peyton started baseball practices. Corey took him the first night and said he cried once when the pitching machine threw a ball right into his cold hands. After the second practice, Peyton came home and said the practice was better because he cried less.
***********
Cannon has done it - he's potty trained. He earned his Diego flashlight. Note to self - get more batteries!
***********
I pulled out my CD's for a YW activity that we were having. Peyton was flipping through them and asked if the I had the CD's when I was young. When I told him I did, he said, "Man, these must be really old."
~ Out of the mouth of babes! ~
***********
When Cannon woke up the other day, I went in his room to get him and he asked me why I put the baby in his bed. When I asked him what baby, he asked again why I had read the baby a story and then put the baby in his bed. He looked around his bed and looked confused that the baby wasn't there. I love it when kids have been dreaming!
***********
Peyton informed me the other day that when he was little, he would lick doorhandles. To a mother that is a germ-a-phobe, there are only a handful of other things that he could have told me that he licked that would have been grosser! (namely shopping cart handles and toilets.)

Where is Spring?

Well, the weather has reverted to cold and snow. We had a few okay days earlier this week, but this is what we woke up to on Wednesday....SNOW!! The rest of the week was either rain, hail or just cold.

***********

Here are the boys trying to stay warm.

Peyton thought it was funny to teach Cannon "Party, party, party"
while doing this weird little dance.

****************

Cannon was fascinated by the hail. All he wanted to do was eat it!

**********
This week I had the flu for a few days. What mother can afford to do nothing for two days?!? Cannon kept asking if he was sick and when I would tell him "No." He would say "Yes I am, see..." and then make a fake cough.
**********
Cannon was throwing a fit and Peyton informed me that we should get Bark Off. When I asked him what Bark Off was, he informed me that you buy it for noisy dogs. Not sure how it works, but I'm sure it was not intended for two year old little boys.
***********
Me: "Cannon, put your toys in your toy basket."
Cannon: "I can't. I have to hold my doggie, he's sad."
Me: "Cannon, put your toys in your toy basket."
Cannon: "I can't. I have to wear a backpack."
Me: "Cannon, put your toys away now."
Cannon: "I can't. My hands are broke."
Me: "Cannon, put your toys away now or you will go to the naughty spot."
Cannon: "OK."
He's only two and he keeps things interesting around here!!
************
Peyton gave a talk today in church. He looked just like a missionary in his white shirt and tie. He did a great job and as always, I'm proud of him.

Dentist, Lunches & Potty - Oh My!

Another week has already gone by and it's been a busy one.
Peyton and Cannon went to the dentist for a cleaning. Yea - no cavities. The dentist told Peyton that one of his teeth on the bottom was just starting to loosen and that he would probably lose it within the next year. Well, prior to this visit Peyton had been wondering when he would lose a tooth (he has cousins and friends that have already lost some) and now he is checking it all of the time. He's been asking a lot of questions about the tooth fairy. I keep reminding him that the dentist said he would lose in within the year, not the week.
The dentist wanted to try x-rays on Cannon and Cannon sat perfectly still and let them do it. The dentist said that two year olds never let them do x-rays. The dentist is not yet familiar with this kid's determination and patience!!
****************
Peyton had a school lunch practice this week. It was on my regular day to help in his classroom, so I was there to help. He was so excited, especially when he found out they were serving pizza. Let's see just how long the excitement of school lunch lasts!! :)

*********
We are loving the beautiful weather! We went to Wellsville Dam on Tuesday for a picnic. (Peyton was out of school that day.) This was the first time we had been to the playground this year. Cannon would not go down the slide even though the loved them last year. Peyton has a new confidence with everything. I think that Kindergarten has done that for him!

Cannon walking across the "bridge".

Peyton climbing the rock wall.

Cannon didn't go the slide on his own will. I grabbed his leg and "helped" him slide down. :)

There are always ducks that will eat your leftovers!

**********
Cannon is still telling everyone that he is Diego. I've been trying to tell him that Diego goes in the potty and not a diaper so he has stopped telling me that he is Diego. I picked him up from nursery today and his teachers had written Diego on the page he colored. He is pretty convincing.!!
***********

I was running out of diapers and I asked Cannon if I should buy more or if he was ready to be a big boy. He assured me that he will be a big boy and wear big boy underwear. So, instead of buying diapers, we bought a new package of big boy underwear. Of course the only ones that had Diego on them came in a package of seven and only two are Diego (two are Wonder Pets and the rest are Sponge Bob). Well, we've been hit or miss with just few accidents. Cannon was talking about Diego's sister, Alicia, and his pet, Baby Jagwater. Peyton kept telling Cannon it is Baby Jaguar, but Cannon was insistent that it is Jagwater. I'll keep you posted on how the potty training is going.
***********
Peyton had a field trip on Friday. He went to the American West Heritage Center for baby animal days. He held a chick, duckling and rabbit and petted a calf, lamb and goat. Of course when I got there, the batteries for my camera were dead. One of the cute moms that was there said she would email some to me. I'll post them later if she does.
***********
Peyton reminded me of a funny story that happened this winter. We have a sliding glass door that leads out to our deck. All winter long is was closed and Cannon would run towards the door, stick up his hands and smack into the door. Well, one evening I turned on the oven and something started burning in the bottom. I opened the sliding glass door to air things out even though it had snowed about 8 inches that day and was still snowing. Well, here comes Cannon running toward the door. I could see what was going to happen, but I couldn't stop him quick enough. He lifted up his hands, but instead of the door stopping him, Cannon went flying face first into the snow. I ran over and lifted him out of the snow. There he was covered from head to toe in snow. He was so stunned that it took a few seconds to catch his breath and start crying. I was laughing so hard and Cannon was crying so hard that both Corey and Peyton came to see what was going on. Poor Cannon - we all had a good laugh at his expense.

Spring has Sprung

Spring has sprung at the Hill home. Finally, warm weather and now the boys can spend more time outside burning off lots of energy. (Yea for me!!) Speaking of burning, we burned some old papers and last year's plants in our garden. I will have to keep my eye on Peyton because he was very excited about the fire - to the point that I was calling him Mr. Pyro.

***********************

I realized this week that not only is food storage practical, but it can be entertaining!

"Timber!!"

****************************

Peyton made cookies for the first time by himself this week (thanks to the example of his cousin, Kaylee). Usually he's right there helping me, but this time I let him do it by himself (mostly).

As Peyton was putting the cookies on the cookie sheets, he said, "this is a lot of work." I just looked at him and said "Yes it is." I could have gone on and on about all the work a mother does, but I just left it at that and hoped that someday he will realized how much work a mother does do!!

Cannon enjoyed more cookie dough than cookies.

He's in the weird smiling stage! :)

**************************

Cannon has found a new interest in puzzles. He absolutely loves them. He, as I said before, is so patient at tedious things. I also noticed that he was very visual and could easily see where the pieces go. I'm thinking that kids now-a-days can thank "Dora" and "Ni Hoa, Ki Lan" for their smarts. When I was a kids we watched Tom and Jerry beating up on each other and little blue Smurfs. I'm lucky that I turned out semi normal!

**************************

My Grandpa is going in for surgery tomorrow. Many thoughts and prayers have been with him and my Grandma. I was at the temple Saturday and they had been on my mind all morning. I later found out that they were in the ER that day admitting my Grandpa to have his hip fixed. XOXOX's!

Spring Break 2010

We just spent four days in Boise with my sister, her family and my Mom and Dad. We had a great time. My boys just played and played and played. I'm pretty sure that this next week will be filled with boredom as they come down from their "playing high".
One afternoon we did go to Cabela's to show Peyton and Cannon the animals again.
Paige and Cannon were here waiting for the big one.
Cannon has been throwing down gang signs in some of his pictures lately.
I may need to limit Sponge Bob or something.

Of course, Peyton was reading the animal facts.
