We went camping over the July 24th weekend. We went up Blacksmith Fork Canyon and found this awesome camp spot. It was just big enough for us. We were right by the river and had trees that blocked us from the road. Poor Peyton woke up sick the morning that we were going. He had a fever and started throwing up. Being the wonderful mom that I am, I told him we were still going. It was either be sick at home or sick in the mountains. Peyton spent most of the first day wrapped up in his blanket in 85 degree weather. Later that night he started to feel better and by the next day he was back to 100%.
The craziest thing happened while we there on Saturday. Corey's parents came up for the afternoon and Corey, Peyton and Corey's dad left to go get some firewood. While Cannon, Corey's mom and I were back at camp, Cannon and Grandma were throwing rocks into the river. I was reading a book and looked over at them. I had to take a double take because there was something black on Corey's mom's back. Looking harder, I realized it was a bat. Oh - did my heart start racing. I told her to hold still (but I didn't tell her that a bat was on her) and picked up the shovel. I thought I could flick it off of her back. I was about to flick it off when it started flying at me!! Yikes. I am running around like a maniac - sure that I had a rabid bat that wanted to suck my blood. I ran around the camp and then circled back to grab Cannon. I swooped him up and said let's get in the trailer. Well, Corey's mom didn't see the danger in staying out to watch the bat. (She never did realize that it had been on her back even when the ordeal was over.) I kept telling her to come in the trailer, but she wouldn't. Well it finally landed in the tree that was right next to river right next to our campsite. I came out of the trailer and grabbed Peyton's BB gun. I shot the bat three times and those darn BB's only bounced off of him and swung him a little. I thought, I'll show you and went into the trailer to get Corey's 22 rifle. I loaded it, aimed at the bat through the scope and shot at it four times - missing all four times. I figured that the gun must have been sited in for distance shooting and I wasn't going to be able to hit it. The bat hung in the tree for awhile and then started flying up and down the river right in front of us and finally flew off, not to be seen again. When Corey made it back, I told him the story and that I had tried to shoot it with his gun, but missed. He said "Yea, I just stuck the scope on one day on my way rabbit hunting. I didn't hit any rabbits and know that it is not even close to being sited in." Thanks Corey for leaving us with a wimpy BB gun and a 22 that won't hit anything! Good Times! :)

Cannon's looking content - highly unusual.

Cannon thought he was clever sticking a water bottle in this ball catcher and then drinking it by tipping up the catcher.

You go boy!
One funny thing that Cannon did - He found a bone on the ground and brought it over to show us. I asked him what it was and he said "I think it's a brain or something." Where does he come up with these things?

Peyton loved turning his hat into a bush.
