Dentist, Lunches & Potty - Oh My!

Another week has already gone by and it's been a busy one.
Peyton and Cannon went to the dentist for a cleaning. Yea - no cavities. The dentist told Peyton that one of his teeth on the bottom was just starting to loosen and that he would probably lose it within the next year. Well, prior to this visit Peyton had been wondering when he would lose a tooth (he has cousins and friends that have already lost some) and now he is checking it all of the time. He's been asking a lot of questions about the tooth fairy. I keep reminding him that the dentist said he would lose in within the year, not the week.
The dentist wanted to try x-rays on Cannon and Cannon sat perfectly still and let them do it. The dentist said that two year olds never let them do x-rays. The dentist is not yet familiar with this kid's determination and patience!!

Peyton had a school lunch practice this week. It was on my regular day to help in his classroom, so I was there to help. He was so excited, especially when he found out they were serving pizza. Let's see just how long the excitement of school lunch lasts!! :)

We are loving the beautiful weather! We went to Wellsville Dam on Tuesday for a picnic. (Peyton was out of school that day.) This was the first time we had been to the playground this year. Cannon would not go down the slide even though the loved them last year. Peyton has a new confidence with everything. I think that Kindergarten has done that for him!

Cannon walking across the "bridge".

Peyton climbing the rock wall.

Cannon didn't go the slide on his own will. I grabbed his leg and "helped" him slide down. :)

There are always ducks that will eat your leftovers!

Cannon is still telling everyone that he is Diego. I've been trying to tell him that Diego goes in the potty and not a diaper so he has stopped telling me that he is Diego. I picked him up from nursery today and his teachers had written Diego on the page he colored. He is pretty convincing.!!

I was running out of diapers and I asked Cannon if I should buy more or if he was ready to be a big boy. He assured me that he will be a big boy and wear big boy underwear. So, instead of buying diapers, we bought a new package of big boy underwear. Of course the only ones that had Diego on them came in a package of seven and only two are Diego (two are Wonder Pets and the rest are Sponge Bob). Well, we've been hit or miss with just few accidents. Cannon was talking about Diego's sister, Alicia, and his pet, Baby Jagwater. Peyton kept telling Cannon it is Baby Jaguar, but Cannon was insistent that it is Jagwater. I'll keep you posted on how the potty training is going.

Peyton had a field trip on Friday. He went to the American West Heritage Center for baby animal days. He held a chick, duckling and rabbit and petted a calf, lamb and goat. Of course when I got there, the batteries for my camera were dead. One of the cute moms that was there said she would email some to me. I'll post them later if she does.

Peyton reminded me of a funny story that happened this winter. We have a sliding glass door that leads out to our deck. All winter long is was closed and Cannon would run towards the door, stick up his hands and smack into the door. Well, one evening I turned on the oven and something started burning in the bottom. I opened the sliding glass door to air things out even though it had snowed about 8 inches that day and was still snowing. Well, here comes Cannon running toward the door. I could see what was going to happen, but I couldn't stop him quick enough. He lifted up his hands, but instead of the door stopping him, Cannon went flying face first into the snow. I ran over and lifted him out of the snow. There he was covered from head to toe in snow. He was so stunned that it took a few seconds to catch his breath and start crying. I was laughing so hard and Cannon was crying so hard that both Corey and Peyton came to see what was going on. Poor Cannon - we all had a good laugh at his expense.

Spring has Sprung

Spring has sprung at the Hill home. Finally, warm weather and now the boys can spend more time outside burning off lots of energy. (Yea for me!!) Speaking of burning, we burned some old papers and last year's plants in our garden. I will have to keep my eye on Peyton because he was very excited about the fire - to the point that I was calling him Mr. Pyro.

I realized this week that not only is food storage practical, but it can be entertaining!

"Timber!!"

Peyton made cookies for the first time by himself this week (thanks to the example of his cousin, Kaylee). Usually he's right there helping me, but this time I let him do it by himself (mostly).

As Peyton was putting the cookies on the cookie sheets, he said, "this is a lot of work." I just looked at him and said "Yes it is." I could have gone on and on about all the work a mother does, but I just left it at that and hoped that someday he will realized how much work a mother does do!!

Cannon enjoyed more cookie dough than cookies.

He's in the weird smiling stage! :)

Cannon has found a new interest in puzzles. He absolutely loves them. He, as I said before, is so patient at tedious things. I also noticed that he was very visual and could easily see where the pieces go. I'm thinking that kids now-a-days can thank "Dora" and "Ni Hoa, Ki Lan" for their smarts. When I was a kids we watched Tom and Jerry beating up on each other and little blue Smurfs. I'm lucky that I turned out semi normal!

My Grandpa is going in for surgery tomorrow. Many thoughts and prayers have been with him and my Grandma. I was at the temple Saturday and they had been on my mind all morning. I later found out that they were in the ER that day admitting my Grandpa to have his hip fixed. XOXOX's!

Spring Break 2010

We just spent four days in Boise with my sister, her family and my Mom and Dad. We had a great time. My boys just played and played and played. I'm pretty sure that this next week will be filled with boredom as they come down from their "playing high".
One afternoon we did go to Cabela's to show Peyton and Cannon the animals again.
Paige and Cannon were here waiting for the big one.
Cannon has been throwing down gang signs in some of his pictures lately.
I may need to limit Sponge Bob or something.

Of course, Peyton was reading the animal facts.

Peyton, Cannon, Paige and Grandpa looking at the animal display.

Scooters

This year the Easter Bunny brought scooters. The week before Easter, Peyton was talking about wanting a scooter because of how fun they were when he rode them at his counsins' (Nate and Tanner) house. Peyton then told Cannon that unlike Santa, you don't have to tell the Easter Bunny what you want because he already knows what you like.
What a smart Easter Bunny to already have the scooters!!

Easter 2010

I'm pretty sure that Cannon is already thinking about how
he can use his new scooter to antagonize his brother!

Scooter number two. Hopefully not too many bloody knees!

Now what is he thinking?!?!

Easter Bunny left some fun stuff!

Coloring Eggs

We had a fun time coloring Easter Eggs! We tried a new trick and used a wisk - way easier for little hands. Petyon was very particular (as usual) and Cannon was carefree (as usual). Cannon kept letting us know that the eggs smelled like dog poop (for some reason lots of things lately smell like dog poop?!?!)

Joining the Blogging World

Well, I guess we'll give the blogging world a go - Thanks to my sis!!

Life is great. Corey and I have been married now for almost eight years. Wow! Where does the time go?!? Corey is working for a cabinet shop building and installing cabinets. I am working from home as an accountant.
We have three boys and they are awesome. Jaxon is almost 16 and ready for drivers license. YIKES!! Peyton is six and is just finishing up Kindergarten. Of course I think he is the most brillant kid in his class!! Cannon is almost three and is definetly the comedian of the family. We have been blessed to make our home in Wellsville, Utah. We love the small town and have great neighbors!
The past few years have been great. Corey & I started dating in November 1999 and have been together ever since. We were married in 2002 and lived in Logan. Jaxon comes to see us every other weekend. I can't belive that he was five when Corey & I met!!
In 2003, Peyton came along. He gave us a big scare when he was born. He was born with SVT - meaning that totally at random, his heart would start beating at 300 beats a minutes - yes 300 - it's not a typo. It took several weeks in the hospital and lots of medication, but it finally got under control and he has been fine ever since.
We moved to Wellsville the summer of 2004. It reminds me of Salmon where I grew up - very laid back and everyone seems to know everyone else's business! :)
Cannon was born in 2007 and has always been a tease. He was just barely learning to crawl and would sneak over and slowly steal Peyton's blue blankie. I'm pretty sure he did it just for the melt down reaction by Peyton. And even today, he's still doing it.
So, Yes - The Hills are Alive!!
